Background permittivity was created by aleme
Dear Martini users,

I have a bit of a wondering and confusion about the background permittivity used with polazriable water which is 2.5. I understand what is the reason to use it with MARTINI, but I have more general question.
I want to calculate the electric field and electric potential from MARTINI trajectory for some particle. So, I simulate my particle with MARTINI and I obtain from the trajectory charge distribution as a function of the radius of the particle. Now, when I calculate the electric field I use the permittivity of water 80.2, because I did not include water in my calculation and the system is in water. However, I am not sure what is the effect of the background permittivity used during the simulation and how this impacts the charge distribution and el. field etc. Do someone has an experience with this effects? Should I also additionally scale my results with 2.5, because of the background permittivity during the simulations?

Thank you!

Best regards,
Aleksandar
